ARRINGTON DE DYONISO
- a short biography of Olympia, Washington uses performance as a vehicle for driving through the nameless territories held between surrealist automatism, shamanic séance, and the folk imagery of rock and roll. Arrington performs on the bass clarinet, jaw harps, and his voice with a distinctly multi-phonic ability inspired by Tuvan throat-singing and the ecclesiastics of Albert Ayler and Don Van Vliet. Arrington attended Evergreen State College, where he studied Ethnomusicology, Music Therapy, and Butoh dance theater.
In 1995 he founded the group Old Time Relijun, which has since toured and recorded throughout the US and Europe and has released six albums on the K Records label. In addition to Old Time Relijun, Arrington devotes a significant amount of his time to furthering the cause of free improvisation.
He is the founder and curator of the Olympia Festival of Experimental Musics, in its eleventh year. Arrington has performed or/and recorded with notable improvisers throughout the West Coast, Italy, and France. He's most recent work is called "Suara Naga" (K Scope, 2011). Arrington has received increased attention for his visual art, which deals with many of the same themes as his music. Recent exhibits have been held in Los Angeles, New York City, Vancouver, Paris, Bologna, and Beijing.
CLAUDIO MILANO
- a short biography A seven-octave vocal range singer, composer and music-therapist, Claudio Milano studied both opera and modern singing, the piano and composition, at the same time attending seminars about the use of the voice as an instrument. He has been carrying out a personal investigation about prevocalic sounds, vowel colours and the various approaches people from different countries and periods have used in their rituals.
His aim is and has been to create a bridge between music, the theatre and visual arts, also thanks to his studies as an actor, as dancer (contact improvisation) and his qualification as scene designer.
Being also the author and interpreter of music especially designed for the theatre, dance theatre, performaces, videoinstallations, he wrote the soundtracks for the opening session of the first Biennal Exhibition of Contemporary Music, held in Moscow, for the Italian show selected for the 5TH International Festival of the Experimental Theatre, held in the Slovakian Republic, for many installations around Europe, for the last Biennale of Contemporary Arts in Venezia. He recorded two solo albums: “L'urlo rubato” (2004) and “La stanza suona ciò che non vedo” (2006). He started the multi-media project NichelOdeon and recorded two albums: “Cinemanemico” (2008), “Il gioco del silenzio” (2010) and a DVD “Come sta Annie?” (2010).
He was singer and composer for the albums “3juno” (2010) by Liir Bu Fer; “Lunapark” (2010) by 1605munro (with Robert Fripp and Takeshi Nishimoto); Pierrot Lunaire's TRE (with Arturo Stalteri) and “NEUMI – Cantus Volat Signa Manent – La musica che lascia il segno”, a project by Davide Riccio published as cd and book for the famous Italian publishing house Genesi Editrice. In January 2012 he will publish two albums of istant composing for voice and electronics, "Adython", with Erna Franssens, Attila Faravelli, Alfonso Santimone and Stefano Ferrian and "Aurelia Aurita" with the RADIATA 5tet. In 2012 he will publish too an album as InSonar with the cooperation of Marco Tuppo and over 50 historical musicians (including Elliott Sharp, Trey Gunn, Pat Mastellotto, Nik Turner, Ralph Carney, Dana Colley...) from all the world operating in different areas: rock, jazz, classical, avant garde, ethnic music, noise and electronics. He will be part also of a live album with some performances made with Ares Tavolazzi, Paolo Tofani & Walter Calloni (Area International Popular Group) and Vincenzo Zitello.

Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 7:29AM As the title says the 4 VID's shot at Improcide last November. Thanks to Simone Weissenfels for pointing at this show. Simone is also part of the lineup (piano/organ).Improcide is all about electronic music, noise, new music, classic music and improvised music. These are DIY-videos, not made for BBC or something like that. From a technical aspect, please do not expect perfect material . But I think the VID'S cover the rough charme of the show.
Not every act is on the VID's, cause I arrived to late and had to leave before the show was over. But the most. Unfortunately I was not able to define the artists per video. But here is the complete set list. If you know the artists personal, it would be great forwarding the VID-links. Thank you.
